Is the HiSET exam hard?
The HiSET and GED exams are for adults who were not in the position to complete their regular high school curriculum. Both the HiSET and the GED are pretty challenging exams. The passing standards are at such a level that some forty percent of high school grads would not be able to pass the tests on the first attempt!

Is the HiSET multiple-choice?
The High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) is a new way for people who didn’t finish high school to earn a diploma and get on track for college or a career. All sections are multiple-choice, (40 – 50 questions) and the Writing section also requires test takers to write an essay.
What kind of math is on the HiSET?
The Math subsection is approximately composed of 45 percent algebra, 19 percent number operations, 18 percent statistics, probability, and data analysis, and 18 percent geometry and measurement.

Is the HiSET and GED the same?
The HiSET® is structured to more closely resemble an older version of the GED® exam that featured five different sections for the test taker to complete. The question set-ups and other aspects of the test are essentially the same for each test.
Can you join the Army without a diploma?

Is the HiSET hard?
The fact that the HiSET resembles the easier old GED doesn’t mean that it’s easier to pass than other high school equivalency exams. Like other high school equivalency exams, students who pass the HiSET are proving that they have academic skills that are within the top 60% of recent high school graduates.
Does the military accept HiSET?
Yes, the military recognizes the HiSET test as a high school equivalency test and would accept and treat the credential as such if it has been approved and issued by the relevant state.
