Does thief have controller support?
Yes. The gamepads in the following list have been tested and are supported by Thief: Afterglow AP2 PS3. Alienware Dual Compatible.
Does Oblivion support Xbox One controller?
Works fine (Oblivion will detect it as a joystick)., except the right stick seemed non-responsive. A little search revealed that it actually does work, but the default values are too low so it seems non-responsive in-game. If too sensitive, go with 0.3500, if not sensitive enough, go with 0.7500 or so.
Can you play Oblivion PC with a controller?
The controls for Oblivion were originally made/optimized for a keyboard/mouse and not a game pad/controller, so that is why they don’t run as smoothly as the Xbox 360 Controls do for Skyrim.
Can you play Thief gold with a controller?
Thief does have Xinput support, at least the GoG version does. A standard X360 controller works just fine with it, but that doesn’t have the track pad and gyro mouse emulation.
Does Oblivion on GOG have controller support?
All you need to do is click (with the mouse) on a control/command you want to assign to a specific button, then click the desired button on the controller. If everything worked like it did for me, you should now be able to play GOG’s DRM-free Oblivion the way you’ve been wanting to!

After downloading and if you don’t want to copy it over, open the program and click Profiles. Then click Import and locate the Oblivion file to where it was downloaded. Make sure that your PS4 controller is connected to your PC via cable or Bluetooth. The program has to be running for it to work!!
