How does Electroscan work?
The Electroscan is a flow through device so once the toilet is flushed it pushes out previously treated waste and begins treating the flush that has just entered the first macerating chamber.
How does Lectra San Work?
Raritan’s Lectra San two-chambered, three-gallon tank retains effluent from the previous flush for treatment while expelling waste water that has completed the cycle. A microprocessor senses voltage, salinity and temperature of the water and controls the treatment process.
How does a marine sanitation device work?
These devices use a combination of maceration and disinfection to treat vessel sewage. After pulverizing the solids, the effluent is exposed to disinfectants (often, chlorine tablets) that reduce bacteria levels to below the established limits under the Clean Water Act.
What must a Type III marine sanitation device have?
Type III is a device that prevents the overboard discharge of treated or untreated sewage or any waste derived from sewage. This type of device is typically a holding tank and may include other types of technology including incineration, recirculation, and composting.
What happens to yacht sewage?
Most commonly, yachts will follow the same tactic as other ocean-faring vessels, in that they discharge waste directly into the oceans. Many of the modern vessels have holding tanks for human waste (black water), but wastewater (gray water) is usually evacuated into the ocean itself.
What happens if you have no discharge?
Sometimes, a lack of discharge or lubrication can be a sign of an infection such as BV, a yeast infection or an STD and you may not have any other symptoms to suggest this.
What is the difference between Lectra San and ElectroScan?
The original Lectra/San treated the waste in much the same way today’s Electroscan treats the waste. The biggest difference and improvement in the system is the monitoring of how well it is producing the disinfectant needed to kill the bacteria and viruses.
How does Lectra/San MC work?
Raritan’s Lectra/San MC first macerates the sewage and then uses electrically charged saltwater to kill bacteria. After destroying bacteria and viruses, it reverts back to salt and water.

What do I need to install the Lectra/San?
Included with the Lectra/San is a Control Indicator Panel and saltwater feed tank (optional, but needed for our installation). Installation instructions specify the type of wire and other electrical fittings needed for 12-, 24- or 32-volt setup.
