How much light do ACAN corals need?
Actinic lighting will work nicely – and help those vibrant shades pop. A PAR between 25-50 will split the difference between their photosynthesis needs and your desire for a stunning reef tank.
Do Acans like high light?
The best placement for Acan corals is on the bottom of the tank, with at least 4-6 inches of space between the Acan and the other corals. Acans don’t like too much light, so putting them in a higher position will make them lose coloration, or even worse, they will bleach.
What kind of light do Acans need?
In terms of lighting they prefer a moderate to low light, each acan varies slightly, start your new acan lower in the tank and move them up slowly to the desired position.
Will Acans grow on sand bed?
If you are looking to frag them, then keep them on the sand bed. It will make it easier for you to take them out of the tank. If you place them on your rocks, then, ggod luck taking that piece of rock out.
Do Acans have sweeper tentacles?
Tank Mates for Acan Coral Acan Corals are semi-aggressive but their aggression isn’t too difficult to manage. But any coral beyond 4 inches should be safe from the mesenterial filaments and sweeper tentacles of the Acan.
Should you dip Acans?
I usually dip them three times if something comes off that is suspicious before they will go in my main display. Eggs are the problem as the dip does not kill eggs so you have to break the cycle with aggressive dipping.

What eats ACAN coral?
Peppermint shrimp (and others) are known to eat corals when their primary food source is depleted. If you can’t catch them and get them out, then you could try overfeeding a little. They are scavengers by nature and will find food that the fish missed.
Are Acans slow growing?
Acan are not fast growers (normally) so it may be normal.

Is ACAN coral compatible with other coral species?
Acan coral is generally compatible with most other species. The key ingredient to whether they’ll tolerate other coral neighbors is space. If you pack it too close to other corals or allow a green star polyp colony to grow beside them, you’re in for coral warfare.
